For the Concept challenge LOVE by :iconaksdareflection:

My little wooden friend has completely fallen for the Pepper Mill :D
They are Two of a Kind - look at the love in his eyes!

I made a lightbox a while ago and tried to shoot this using it - but I still got very harsh shadows - more practise required!

I tried using fill flash, then rear flash, but ended up using no flash at all. I turned the box and let the sunlight flood in the window at my back.

All critiques (read help!) warmly welcomed !

PS - the image on here seems to have a kind of blurring round the wooden items - it does NOT look like that in my photo editor, it's sharp...I'm trying to fix this by resubmitting the image, but after two attempts it still looks the same on here  I'm working on it!

- OK that's the third change - I even changed the writing in the title to make sure that the file was actually changing - it still looks the same! I'm guessing that the slightly raised stripey texture in the background has something to do with the chaos! (to be avoided next time :) )

Final edit - I think it's fixed !

Nice concept.

I think the blurring may be the .jpg compression. Try saving at a higher quality. If that's not it, then I'm baffled too! :)

i absolutely love this shot.

its a great concept...the type that makes me think "why didnt i think of this sooner?!"

great job and interpretation of the subject!

ps- the blurring might be an optical illusion due to the contrasting colors...maybe?

I agree with purplerose on the cause of the blurring, though it could also be caused by the color of the background. Try a background that contrasts more with the color of the wood - perhaps a dark blue or purple.

:D Thank you Kris, I appreciate the :+fav:, especially as the quality on this isn't up to much! I have no idea what's going on!

Well...it's saved at the highest quality possible....RAW to Jpeg at 12 on the scale. It's probably a mix of colour, texture and small image...the full size image looks fine on PhotoFiltre!

Glad you like it - thanks for the comment

:D Thanks Pat! I think this little guy may end up with a folder all to himself - so many things to do with him! :D

I thought about that too...but it's for LOVE, Valentine's and all that :D Hey it's just for fun - it doesn't need to be perfect....just as long as this doesn't happen regularly :faint:
